From Personal Challenge to Professional Care: The Story of Livewell Private Care
At Livewell Private Care, our journey began with a deeply personal challenge faced by our family in 2008. Our beloved mother, at the age of 83, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. The prognosis was terminal, and it became imperative for us to ensure she received the best care possible throughout her final days. This experience profoundly shaped the creation and mission of Livewell Private Care.
The Beckett Family Story
Our mother had lived independently in our family home for 15 years following the death of our father. With young children in the home, it was crucial for us to find a caregiver we could trust implicitly—not only with our mother’s care but also around our children. Initially, we took on the responsibility ourselves, but as her needs grew to 24/7 care, we realized we needed external help.
We reached out to various sources, including our mom’s home health company, hospice company, and doctors, for caregiver referrals. However, the process of finding a suitable caregiver was fraught with challenges. We felt uncomfortable with the providers we interviewed and were dissatisfied with the lengthy process it took to even get those interviews. We knew we needed someone special who would provide the love and care our mother deserved, and we were not finding that through traditional means.
The Birth of Livewell Private Care
In the face of these challenges, we decided to create our own solution. As a busy mom, wife, and entrepreneur, it was paramount that we partnered with caregivers who could provide the best love and care for our mom, especially during her last year of life. Thus, Livewell Private Care was born out of necessity, love, and a desire to provide the highest standard of care for our mother.
Our professional and caring caregivers gave us the respite we needed to cherish our mother’s final months and days. Their support allowed us to navigate this part of our journey with strength and dignity. We were able to be present with our mother, enjoying precious moments without the overwhelming burden of caregiving.
